Validating the authenticity of signatures and seals

Provincially issued public documents

We know the process for each province and territory

Certain immigration applications may necessitate the Apostillation of specific documents at a provincial or territorial level. Public documents issued at the provincial level often bear the signature and, at times, the seal of the issuer, lawyer, notary, or another official. Provincial Apostille (Attestation) serves to authenticate the genuineness of the signature and seal on the document, also verifying the authority of the signing official.

To illustrate, in Ontario, Official Document Services (ODS) offers an express service for Apostille (Authentication). However, the department overseeing document Apostille (Authentication) in British Columbia, as well as in Alberta and other provinces and territories, varies. Each province or territory has its unique fees, procedures, and processing times. It's worth noting that not all provinces offer provincial apostille authentication. In such cases, documents must proceed to the federal level to obtain the Apostille.

Documents eligible for provincial Apostille (Authentication), if approved by the destination country’s immigration office, include marriage certificates, birth certificates, rentista letters, education documents, and anything notarized by a Notary.

We have successfully assisted numerous clients requiring provincial Authentication, including the new Apostille seal, from all corners of Canada. Other services we offer

You take a seat while we do all the running around

Authentication proves genuineness of a public official’s signature on documents, making them usable for immigration purposes. In Canada, we manage provincial and federal authentications, RCMP record checks, and apostilizations. For the USA, we can handle document procurement (where applicable) and apostilization for every state.

Apostilization

Apostilization is a single-certificate document authentication process used by countries that are signatories of the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention on Private International Law.

Federal Apostille (Authentication)

Your documents may need to be ratified by a federal authority before they’re used abroad.

Legalization

If countries require authentication or legalization, the embassy or consulate may have a preference between Global Affairs Canada and a provincial authority.signature(s) on it are verified.

Notary Services

Notarization makes a document authentic and trustworthy. Notarization adds an extra layer of security to documents by telling us a document is real and the signature(s) on it are verified.
